Reflection 4

"Lord Jesus, you are the fulfillment of all our hopes and desires. Your Spirit brings grace, truth, freedom, and abundant life. Set my heart on fire with your love and truth."

Today’s Gospel the Gospel of St. Mathew ( 9:18-26 ) speaks about two  miracles of Jesus. The firs t one about the healing of the women with hemorrhage and the second one about the Synagogue official’s daughter.                

                                            

While Jesus was speaking to them, an official of the synagogue came up to Him, bowed before Him and said “my daughter has just died, come and place your hands on her, and she will live”. Jesus went to officials house and saw the flute players and excited crowd, he said “get out of here the girl is not dead, she is sleeping” then Jesus went to in and took the girl by the hand and she stood up ; while Jesus on the way to officials home, the hemorrhage women came up from behind and touched the edge of His cloth ; and she said in her mind “if I only touch his cloths I’ll be healed”  then Jesus turned , and said “courage mu daughter your faith has saved you” and from the moment she was cured.

From both of these miracles we can see that the officials and the woman’s unshakable faith. At that time the people needed to touch the cloth of Jesus to get cure, they had powerful, strong and deep faith. But in our case we are far luckier than that people who lived in that time, because every day we get or experience Jesus through holy Eucharist in the form of bread and wine. Every morning we are receiving Jesus but we are not experiencing the healing touch of Jesus. So we need to reflect about our faith; how deep our faith.

All saints are the model of unshakable faith. They found time to sit in front of the holy Eucharist with deep faith and trust in the Lord.  Especially, we know our patron, St Chavara; he found time to sit in front of Blessed Sacrament.

Once when Mother Teresa was asked by a man how she was able to do such great things, she replied that every day, however I found time to sit in front of my Lord that gave me the strength and power to do this little things. Also St. John Paul II spent hours and hours in front of BL Sacrament.

So, dear Brothers we are called to have unshakable faith but do we have such that faith…? We should think and we should keep in our mind the officials and the woman’s unshakable faith…..let us ponder on it…..
