Reflection-89
In Mt. Chapter eight, the incidents narrated, pertains to the faith aspect of an individual. The leper asks Jesus, “if you will, make me clean”, he heals the Centurion’s servant by the faith of Centurion, healing the grandmother of Peter, calming the storm and scolding the Apostles for their little faith and to the last the paragraph that we deal with the day.
The passage speaks of
the great loss. The possessed demoniac s cries out loudly, O son of God. It is
not a faith proclamation rather a massive cry the part of Satan not to send
them away. But there also the divinity of Jesus was proclaimed by the Satan who
knew who Jesus was. He public ally accepts Jesus’ divinity, being the son of
God.
But after being freed
from the bondage of demoniac s, the two people felt the joy of freedom that
Jesus gave them. But along with the same, some wealth got lost and it was the
swine that were around. Even though the demoniac s were freed from the bondage
of sin and hard ship, people found it hard to believe that their wealth is
lost. From my perspective, the devils entered the swine and after the death of
the same they entered in the hearts of the people of Gadarens. We see a
multiple times in Bible that people come to Jesus to see, and to experience
him. But here there is a contradiction, where Jesus is excluded from the place
for his moral act. This has a similar touch with our life where:

1 1) We see comfort, rather Jesus; it brings
us the prosperity of wealth, but a decrease in spirituality. This can be the
reason, why we sacrifice Jesus for our Comfort, i.e., sleep.

The sufferings are the part and the
parcel of a disciple of Jesus. It might be the parting of our wealth and
possessions, but the ultimate freedom will be experienced by us, as the
greatest model of renunciation, St. Francis of Assisi did.
