Reflection - 92

Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said; “I have compassion for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.”    Mathew 15:32.

When we use the word “compassion”, we usually mean sympathy or sorrow for the sufferings or trouble of another accompanied with the urge to help. There is a difference between compassion and sympathy. Here Lord Jesus had felt compassion not sympathy. We have to show compassion to our fellow beings around us.For example if any person is weak in his studies, we have to help them as feeling that, they are one with us.   Then same in the work place, and everywhere.

As Pope Francis mention about compassion through mercy; “The year of mercy might have end but, the mercy never ends.”                We have to conger the world through compassion
Likewise, compassion can be called forth for homeless street people, the jobless, the uneducated, and the depressed. Moved from deep within us, we not only help them realize that God has not abandoned them.

The crowd that had been with Jesus for three days witnessed a theophany, a manifestation of God through feeding the 4000 (four thousand).
Likewise, God is discovered in our compassionate efforts.
So, let us meditate; For whom have we recently felt compassion.

Let us pray; God of all compassion, from the hidden depths of Yourself You shared Your only Son, Jesus Christ, with the world. May His example enable us to offer compassion to those whom we meet.  Amen…
